For me, that is usually bad because I'm typically rah rah, go go I will not raise the white flag though. Why should I with anyone not named the Tigers leading the division? This team can go on a run, they did it last year.Justin Lada: I think there are still some signs they could turn the ship around. Ryan Garko has seemed to snap out of his funk he had been in since May and with Blake and Francisco hitting others could catch on.I'm always the eternal optimist but the bullpen is becoming more and more of a problem, so at this point its 50/50 that they can really make this season go right again.Scott Miles: Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?Well, if you substitute "Germans" for "the rest of the American League" and "Pearl Harbor" for "the Indians", then yes, yes it is over. This is a listless team that dies a little more inside every day I don't know how much more of this I can take. Every game leaves me in a catatonic state and makes me question everything I've known and loved in this world...(Yes, I'm too emotionally tied to the Indians, and yes I think I'll just move on to the next question before I start crying.) Michael Taylor: I don't know if I'd call it raising a white flag in the first week of June, but the signs are all definitely pointing towards that moment coming. There have been more positive moments of late, but as soon as one hole seems fixed, another hole opens It's like trying to plug a leak with bubble gum.
Sooner or later the whole thing will explode.I am one who tries to stay as positive as I can in general, but it is getting very hard right now. There is so much going bad, whether it is losing Westbrook for over a year, a terrible offense, or an even worse bullpen. I guess overall, no I'm not ready to call it yet, but I am getting very close.David Wiley: Being an eternal baseball optimist, I see signs of hope. First off, the offense maybe could be making it around the corner? Please?Part of the reason the Tribe lost was poor starting pitching due to injury and bad planning on the minor league level for availability.
Losing Westbrook for the season, while bad, I don't think affects the Indians all that much Carmona off the DL will remedy much of our ailments there. The biggest pitching concern has to be Betancourt.Tribe goes on a mini-run soon and is right back in the hunt. The Indians rotation took a big hit last week with the announcement that Jake Westbrook will need to have Tommy John surgery This will sideline him through at least June of next season. How big of a loss is this for not only this season, but next season until he returns? Nino Colla: People might say, man you're crazy! But, this might actually improve our chances of signing C.C Sabathia. Why not? This leaves a huge void in our rotation, especially with Byrd a free agent, Adam Miller out again, and the lack of trust in Sowers.
